Google's next fitness tracker is no longer a rumor. The company's Google Health account posted on X on October 9 that the Fitbit Edge — a brand-new band-style tracker — will be fully revealed on October 12, 2026, just days from now.
The post was brief but telling: a close-up image of what appears to be the device's side button, captioned "Get an Edge on your health. 10.12.26." The capitalization of "Edge" was deliberate, confirming the name that leakers had been circulating for weeks. Android Headlines published images and details earlier in the week, followed by a report from French outlet Dealabs that fleshed out the design, battery life, and pricing.
So what will the Fitbit Edge actually be? According to the leaks, it slots into a sweet spot Google hasn't occupied since the Fitbit Charge 6 launched back in 2023: a proper band-style tracker with a display, sitting between the screenless budget Fitbit Air that arrived earlier this year and the flagship Pixel Watch 5 smartwatch.
The rumored spec sheet is genuinely impressive for a fitness band. A 1.34-inch AMOLED display. Up to 7 days of battery life with the always-on display off — dropping to about 2 days if you leave it on all day. Bluetooth 5.4, built-in GPS, and a physical side navigation button paired with a sensor-rich band form factor. The device reportedly measures 11.58mm thick, 39.22mm tall, and 25.56mm wide, and weighs just 17.7 grams.
On the health side, the Edge is expected to track the full catalog: steps, distance, heart rate, calories, sleep, menstrual cycle, skin temperature — plus AFib and irregular heart rhythm detection, cardiac load, fitness level, and VO2 max estimates via its sensor array. An ECG sensor and a skin temperature sensor round out the health suite. The band is said to carry 5ATM and IP68 water resistance ratings, support Google Maps, media controls, a Find My Phone feature, and work with both Android and iOS.
Perhaps most intriguing for the AI crowd: personalized coaching powered by Gemini. Google has been steadily weaving its assistant into the Fitbit experience, and the Edge looks like the device that finally makes that coaching loop feel native to a mid-range wearable.
Pricing is the one detail where the leaks show some variance. Dealabs reported €179 in the Eurozone and £159 in the UK, which puts it around $180 to $200 in the US — a sensible fit given the Fitbit Air starts at $99 and the Pixel Watch 5 sits at $349. Four colorways are rumored: Obsidian & Matte Black, Olive & Satin Pyrite, Canyon & Champagne Gold, and Fog & Polished Silver, matching the tones of the Pixel 11 lineup and Pixel Watch 5.
Notebookcheck also noted that the Edge will join the Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch 5 as Google's wearables lineup for 2026, giving the company coverage across budget, mid-range, and flagship tiers for the first time in years.
The timing is no accident. October is the heart of wearable season, and with the Edge landing October 12, Google is staking its claim before the holiday buying rush begins. If the leaked specs hold — 7-day battery, AMOLED display, Gemini coaching, and a price under $200 — the Edge could be the fitness tracker the Fitbit faithful have been waiting three years for.
