PlayStation players who covet an Xbox-style controller just got a new option — with Sony's blessing. Brook Gaming (Zeroplus Technology Co., Ltd.), the New Taipei outfit best known for its fighting-game converters, announced on October 6 that the Brook StarRay Wireless Controller is now available: a $74.99 gamepad that pairs native PS5 support with an asymmetrical stick layout familiar to Xbox players.
Native PS5 support is the key phrase here. Many third-party pads lean on adapters or Bluetooth workarounds; StarRay works natively on PS5, and the HOME button can even power on the console directly. The controller also retains the PlayStation touchpad, and it connects via Bluetooth or USB-C, with support for PS5, PC (including Steam), iOS, and Android — plus compatibility with Brook's own converters.
The hardware sheet reads like a wish list. Hall Effect analog sticks — rated for 5 million cycles — promise precise control with sharply reduced stick-drift risk. The main buttons are mechanical, delivering what Brook says is up to 30% faster input response. PC players get up to a 1000Hz polling rate over a wired connection. And the dual-mode triggers are genuinely clever: a 15mm long-stroke setting for nuanced throttle control in racing games, or a flick to a 0.3mm MicroSwitch mode for hair-trigger inputs in FPS and action games.
Customization runs through the StarRay App, which supports Turbo, Macro, button remapping, joystick sensitivity and dead-zone adjustment, and firmware updates. Around the chassis you'll find two top auxiliary buttons, two rear buttons, dual vibration motors, six-axis motion, RGB lighting, a 3.5mm headset jack, and anti-slip grips. The 1,100mAh battery charges over USB-C, and the pad stays usable while charging.
StarRay is available now through the Brook Amazon Store and Brook's official online shop. At $74.99, it lands well below the premium pro-controller tier while borrowing several of its headline features. If stick drift has burned you before and you prefer offset sticks on PlayStation, this one deserves a look.
